Cadet Summer Training 2025
GENERAL INFO
Summer training opportunities for 2025 are moving forward as planned and ALL cadets are encouraged to apply.  The Cadet Program Re-scope has changed the way the Cadet Program operates moving forward.

CADET TRAINING CENTRES (Red Star - Gold Star)

Training Courses will be offered to cadets who have completed their second year of training (Red Star) or higher.  Course will be hosted at Cadet Training Centres(CTC).  Courses range in length from 2 to 4 weeks and take place at CTC locations across the country.  Army Cadets who have completed Red Star may apply to Common Courses, such as Air Rifle Marksmanship and Drill and Ceremonial, Fitness and Sports, or they may apply for specific Army Courses, such as Expedition Team Member, Expedition Team Leader, or Mountain Bike Instructor.
ADVANCED CADET OPPORTUNITIES
Cadets who have completed the Gold Star program (Gold Star qualified) and will be 16 years of age by the start of summer training may apply for staff cadet positions or advanced opportunities.  Staff cadets hold a variety of positions at CTCs from training support, public affairs and operations, to Platoon WOs, to the RSM of the CTC. 

​Cadets may also apply for advanced opportunities such as part of the National Cadet Advisory Council (NCAC), CF Basic Parachutist Course, or for the Maple Leaf Exchange (MLE) in the United Kingdom.
HOW TO APPLY
  1. Decide your Summer 2024 Training - Cadets and parents should review the 2024 training options.
  2. Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements.  Any applications received that do not meet the eligibility requirement will be disqualified without notice to the cadet.
  3. Decide your top 3 choices and serials (course dates). **NOTE** Cadets may choose the same course for multiple choices if it offers multiple serials (course dates). Courses that only offer one serial may only be selected once.
  4. Complete the application form below based on your Star Level Qualification. Responses are automatically sent to 2799.

Summer Training Joining Instructions 
Before attending summer training at a CTC it is imperative that you read and understand the joining instructions.  Please read below the "Common Joining Instructions", this is applicable for all cadets attending summer training courses.  Each Training Center will also have an additional package that pertains to that specific training.  To ensure that you are informed, we highly recommended that you read the packages and write down questions that you may have.
