Although one does not need to be in shape to join cadets, physical fitness is an important core element of the Cadet Program. The Cadet Fitness Assessment Incentive Program is a tool used to recognize cadet achievements in personal fitness. Direction for awarding Cadet Fitness Assessment Incentive Levels is under Cadet Administrative and Training Order (CATO) 14-18 Cadet Fitness Assessment Incentive Program. Cadets can earn fitness badges based on a standardized test using the measurements below. Physically fit cadets feel better, are more confident, sleep better, and do better in school! The following badges can be earned for their uniform:
The Army Cadet Fitness Test is comprised of the following five tests:
1. Push-ups (Timed with a recorded cadence of 20 reps per minute)
2. Shoulder Stretch
3. Partial Curl-ups (Timed with a recorded cadence of 20 reps per minute)
4. Backsaver Sit and Reach Stretch
5. The 20m Shuttle Run (aka the 'Beep Test')
